When I was oh so much younger, I put on wood shake shingles. They took hours to do, were thick and hard to work with, but in the end they looked just like this. Usually the spires were made of copper.  I guess they were used as lighting rods.  When they were new, they must have had a luxurious copper glow, but as they age, they take on a light green patina. In their own way they also are beautiful.  The builders must not have used copper here.  Regardless, this castle is so well done.
